首先要做的是，你需要一个带有 MTRR（稍后详细介绍）和 DVD ioctl 支持的内核。虽然 MTRR 自 2.2.11 版本以来就已存在于内核中（如果我错了请纠正我），但你可能需要更新你的内核才能获得 DVD ioctl。有两种方法可以实现这个目标，你可以下载一个开发内核 (v2.3.x)，或者为稳定发行内核 (v2.2.x) 打补丁，补丁位于 http://www.kernel.dk/，内核可以在你喜欢的 ftp://ftp.kernel.org/ 镜像站点上找到。
